Some Thoughts On Online Giving
Giving is both a privilege and a responsibility. God has always challenged his people to support his work through their gifts and offerings. Consider the following passages:
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10)
“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. (1 Chronicles 29:14)
But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving. ( 2 Corinthians 8:9)
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:7, 8)
Giving is at one and the same time an act of stewardship (faithfully using the resources God has placed at our disposal to honor him) and worship (expressing our love and devotion to God through our gifts).
While many of you prefer the option of on-line giving, we encourage you to never allow your giving to become anything less than a joyful act of devotion to Christ. You might want to pause and give thanks to God each month when you reconcile this line item in your checkbook, or you can pause as we take the offering in our weekend services to thank God for all that he has given you and for allowing you to participate in his work through your gifts .
Pray for us as well, that we would steward the gifts we receive in a way that honors him.
